TCSS 2024-2029 Strategic Plan
In 2024, after months of planning, research, analysis, and development, the Tuscaloosa County Board of Education approved a 2024-2029 Strategic Plan for the Tuscaloosa County School System.
The TCSS Strategic Plan will guide the strategic work of the Tuscaloosa County School System over the next five years. All initiatives and allocation of resources are to be closely aligned with the goals of the strategic plan. The plan is divided into five strategic themes: Challenged, Engaged, Supported, Healthy, and Safe. Within each theme, the plan highlights Objectives, Critical Initiatives, Activities, and Key Measures.

Explore the Strategic Plan
The 2024-2029 Strategic Plan was developed over a period of several months. In 2023, surveys were made available to stakeholders electronically, and nearly 800 surveys were completed.

From "benchmark assessments" to "learning goals," several terms were defined at the onset of the strategic planning process to provide stakeholders with a common understanding.

The second strategic theme, "Engaged," focuses on how each TCSS student is actively engaged in learning and connected to both their school and the community.
"Supported" is the third strategic theme—a component of the plan that strives to ensure every student has access to personalized learning and is supported by qualified, caring adults.
The fourth strategic theme, "Healthy," shines the spotlight on the importance of TCSS students learning about, practicing, and receiving the tools necessary to lead healthy lifestyles
"Safe" is the district's final strategic theme, and it focuses on ensuring all scholars and staff learn and work in environments that are physically and emotionally safe spaces for them.
