Leading the Holt High School community

Dr. Carmen Drinkard, Principal

I am excited to move into the role of Principal at Holt High School. I have served as Assistant Principal of Holt High since 2020. Before that, I was a high school science teacher as well as a dual credit English and history instructor, teaching college classes to high school students. I was also assistant principal and Early College High School dean in my previous district.

My “why” for being and educator is I believe that education is a life-long process and am a life-long learner myself. I also firmly believe that all students can achieve success, and it is the responsibility of educators to help students reach their potential.

On a personal note, I am originally from West Texas, but relocated to Alabama from Texas to move my three children, Carla, Michael, and Cadence, closer to family. I graduated high school in a tiny border town in Texas, and I completed my Bachelor of Science degree from Sul Ross State University in 2009 followed by a Master of Education degree in 2014 and a Master of Arts in 2017. I also hold a Doctorate of Educational Leadership degree from Texas A&M University.
